Full details

For the frequent Lake Garda visitors, especially those who drive from northern countries across the Alps, the last 20km of road are probably the last bit of purgatory before paradise.

We all have a place where we feel at home and on holiday at the same time, and the longer the trip to this place is, the more impatient we become as we get closer.

So, if the target is reaching Riva del Garda (or Torbole, Arco, Malcesine, Limone etc.) as soon as possible after leaving the A22 Brenner motorway, most of those roundabouts and arrows along the Loppio valley are just meaningless color flashes, maybe leading somewhere yes, but not where you want to go.

And that’s our job: showing you some of the “neverlands” you didn’t expect to visit and discover during you stay at lake Garda.

Val di Gresta is one of those, and not a meaningless one.

The avid cyclists have climbed Monte Velo to Santa Barbara pass at least once during their holidays here, and probably they went down back to the lake from the Val di Gresta.

Mountainbikers use most of the time the Naranch trail down, without even considering Val di Gresta as a place to visit.

Never been so wrong, dear friend!

Located at the feet of Monte Stivo, this mid height small valley, with its rich soil and its vegetables gardens is a wonderful terrace with stunning views towards Lake Garda and the Vallagarina.
Not only, Val di Gresta has one of the most well kept austro-hungarian WW1 trenches areas (recently restored by the Mori’s Alpini association) along the whole cliffs from Rovereto to Lake Garda.

At the beginning of 20th Century, this was still Austrian empire soil, and during the Great War, this places were part of the front line.

During this tour we will enjoy a great variety of trails and paths, including a short walk into the trenches carved in the rock right above Nago.

For the most trained riders, the tour will also turn around the Stivo direction north, from where an endless forest descent will bring to the small village of Braila and to Drena Castle, above the Sarca valley.
